Greetings to all -

I recently purchased an XTS4000 VHF off of eBay and also purchased an iDen programming cable as I was told that the cable is comparable. The model # of the cable is an NKN6544A and when I plug the cable into the radio it lights up the radio/turns it on. It is a serial connector cable and I attempted to program the radio twice. Once with a serial to USB adaptor as well as breaking out the old DB9 com port computer. The USB computer is running Windows 8.1 and the DB9 one is running Windows XP.

In both cases when I go to read the radio I hear the radio beep and it says PROGRAMMING MODE on the display and then the computer returns back an error of failure something UUID. In reading about the cables I saw that I did not need all 17 pins so I tried to tape the unused ones down and only leave open Pins 1,3,4,5,6, & 8. However when I do that I cannot get the PROGRAMMING MODE anymore.

So the question is do I have a defective radio or the wrong cable? If it is a bad cable what are the pinouts between the Condor (i90, i95c, etc.) and the Falcon (i530, etc.) that need to be changed. I am about ready to say the heck with it and sell it for $400 (new batt, new antenna, new holster, impress charger insert). I program Motorola radios all the time for work so I am not some NOOB in this case just when it comes to the XTS4000 platform. Any help would be great as I would like to use it this weekend.,
