xts5000 r20 to r09 downgrade possible ?

Hi all !!

I have a xts5k with host R20.00.10 and dsp r19.50 .. I wish to make it host and dsp to r09.xx

I want to do it safe not to brick radio I searched and read it would work to downgrade from r16.xx so real experience with r20 would be nice..

1-is it possible to roll back to r09.xx host and dsp ?

2-if so is all I have to do is flashzap in cps r20 with r09xx cvn ? and rewrite codeplug and tune again ?

3-does radio and cps r09 care if ucm stays higher ? ie r05.07.15

Seems they are trying to go back to a particular CPS revision?? Not sure changing the FW and DSP will allow that anyway?

There's a very good, valid reason for doing so. To get Q52-only FPP working, would be my guess. The only question is really whether the rollback utility will work with the latest 20.10.00 CPS or not if you have written the radio with it.

You should be able to use the newer UCM and leave it at the higher level. I have some radios that have that configuration.

To increase your chances of success, try to simplify the codeplug if possible, no trunking, you might try to reduce MDC and ASTRO systems, or remove basically as much stuff as you can before the conversion - you can always add them back later on once the rollback is successful.

Radio crazy what downgrade utility are you referring to ? I did a search on the forum for keyword could not find anything..
any special instructions on how to use it or it is self explaining ?

I had the wrong keyword ... "rollback" was it all ..

Read the whole tread this will make the codeplug down to R09 or r12 ..

What about host fw on the radio ... flashzap with cps 9 to fw R09 will work or leave it where it is ?

If the radio has a R09 codeplug in it with Host firmware higher than R09.00.05, the radio will puke on you when you change zones & play around in the FPP menu.

Mfire39 is correct; BOTH radio firmware and CPS must be no greater than R09 for Q52-Only FPP to work. Plus, you get trunking back! Yay!!
